Forex is said to be tradable 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, however it is not always possible. The timetable below shows the open hours for the FX market.
|Sunday||From 22:00 GMT|
|Friday||Until 22:00 GMT|
Some currencies are still traded over the weekend which is why you can often see a gap in the trading price each time the FX market opens for trade (Sunday).
There are times when you should consider not trading and having some time away from the computer. These are some of the main events that you should put as recurring yearly events.
|25 Dec||All Markets||Closed - Christian holiday|
|1 Jan||All Markets||Closed - New Year's Day|
|4 Jul||USD Pairs||Independence day (America)|
|Multiple||All markets||US & UK Bank Holidays|
Traders have always seemed to take holidays in the August period each year. This may be due to their children having their summer holiday too. The entire month generally has lower volumes and less volatile which provides very little setups.
I would generally recommend taking your holiday during this month or switch off your screens so you do not get frustrated with having little opportunities to trade.
So, make sure you take August off if you're planning a holiday
